NIKE Stock Hits New 52-Week Low Amid Ongoing Challenges
NIKE Inc.'s stock has hit a new 52-week low of $37.95, after recovering slightly to close at $38.40 on September 3. The company's shares have remained volatile in recent months due to softer consumer demand and pressure in Sportswear.
The fourth-quarter fiscal 2026 revenue decline was 1% year-over-year on a reported basis and 4% on a currency-neutral basis. NIKE Direct revenues fell 9%, while wholesale revenues increased 1%. The operating environment became more difficult during the quarter, with retail sales trends decelerating beginning in mid-April.
Sportswear remains one of NIKE's biggest challenges, accounting for approximately half of its revenues and expected to remain negative in fiscal 2027. The company has reduced classic footwear franchises by over $2 billion during fiscal 2026 as it rebalances the portfolio toward newer performance and lifestyle products.
Regional pressures are also a concern, with EMEA experiencing a 6% decline in fourth-quarter revenues, while Greater China saw a 17% decline. The company expects first-quarter fiscal 2027 reported revenues to decline in the low-to-mid-single-digit range, with gross margin slightly positive but second-quarter revenues projected to decelerate sequentially.
Despite these challenges, NIKE's long-term growth prospects remain supported by sport-led innovation, an expanding product pipeline, and strengthening wholesale relationships. The company is introducing more than a dozen new Sportswear footwear styles in the second half of fiscal 2027 and expects products developed under its new sport-focused operating model to reach the market from spring 2027.
