Nike's Opening Event: Where Athletes Find More Than Just a Platform

Jaxsen Stokes, a running back from Sierra Canyon, credits the program with teaching him that hard work and authenticity are key to success. He emphasizes the importance of family and staying true to oneself, rather than chasing fame or fortune.

Taven Epps, a linebacker at Tustin High, also participated in The Opening and spoke about the value of leading by example and being open-minded. Despite his own challenges with hearing loss, he plans to study audiology and help other kids who play football.

Nike's head of marketing, Ian Shepherd, explains that the company wants to support these young athletes' development as holistic individuals, not just elite competitors. He believes that building relationships and providing opportunities for growth are essential to their success in life beyond sports.
