Nvidia AI Server Prices Soar by Over 15% Amid Memory Chip Shortage
Nvidia's customers are facing significant price hikes for AI servers, with increases of over 15% expected in many cases. The higher costs are due to rising memory chip prices, which are outpacing supply.
The affected systems include those built around Nvidia's Vera Rubin and Grace Blackwell platforms, with the exact rise varying based on the generation of Nvidia's chips and the memory configuration used in each system. Server manufacturers have already informed large data centre operators, including Microsoft, Google, and Oracle, about the upcoming price changes.
Nvidia's AI accelerators rely on memory to run systems that train and operate AI software. The rising memory costs are adding pressure to the overall price of AI computing infrastructure, which is already under strain due to project delays, labour shortages, and tighter capital markets.
