Nvidia Boosts Share Buybacks by Record $150 Billion
Nvidia has increased its share buyback authorization by a record $150 billion, bringing the total remaining under the program to $235 billion. The company plans to use this money by the end of fiscal 2028.
This move exceeds Apple's previous benchmark of $110 billion in share buybacks approved in 2024. However, market data indicates that overall share buybacks have slowed down by about 50% from July through September 23.
Nvidia's CEO, Jensen Huang, cited the company's growing demand for computing power to train and run artificial intelligence models as the reason behind its strong cash flow. This allows the company to invest in new technologies while returning capital to shareholders.
Despite this move, some analysts see it as a possible sign that expectations for Nvidia's earnings growth are weakening. The company's shares have risen 1.2% in premarket trading and over 20% since the start of the year.
