Nvidia CEO Slams Doomsday AI Fears: '0% Chance' Humanity Will Be Wiped Out

Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang has dismissed doomsday warnings that artificial intelligence (AI) may contribute to human extinction by 2030. Speaking to CBS News, Huang said there's a '0% chance' of AI wiping out humanity in the next decade.

Huang called the fears 'unnecessary' and 'irresponsible,' stating that predictions made by former OpenAI researcher Jacob Coxon are 'not grounded in science.' He emphasized that Nvidia's success is tied to the safe deployment of products and services, and that existing legal frameworks should be the primary guardrails for the industry.

Huang argued that companies like Nvidia have a built-in interest in ensuring AI safety. He also expressed opposition to new regulatory frameworks for AI, suggesting that current laws should suffice.

The Nvidia CEO's comments come as he prepares to attend a state dinner hosted by President Donald Trump for Chinese President Xi Jinping, alongside other tech leaders such as OpenAI CEO Sam Altman and Apple Executive Chairman Tim Cook. Huang has previously pushed back against Washington's restrictions on China's ability to purchase specialized chips used to train AI models from U.S. companies like Nvidia.
