Nvidia has forged a partnership with Taiwan chip firm MediaTek, committing to buy $3.5 billion in MediaTek bonds.

The two companies will combine Nvidia's accelerated computing and AI software ecosystem with MediaTek's AI technology portfolio and custom silicon.

Rick Tsai, vice chairman and CEO of MediaTek, said the investment 'strengthens a collaboration that spans cloud AI infrastructure, local AI computing and automotive in the era of physical AI.'

The partnership will boost MediaTek's efforts to extend into data center infrastructure, device-based AI computing, and automotive platforms.

Nvidia has been on a spree investing in upstream and downstream partners, with some analysts warning that this latest deal may collide with other Nvidia bets.
