Nvidia has made its largest direct investment outside of the US by investing $3.5 billion in convertible bonds issued by Taiwanese chipmaker MediaTek.

The deal will allow Nvidia to buy bonds that can be converted into MediaTek shares, solidifying a deeper alliance between the two companies.

This partnership positions MediaTek as a 'bridge' between Nvidia and custom AI chip customers, enabling them to develop custom chips that work seamlessly with Nvidia's GPUs.
