Nvidia Lands $500 Billion Deal Amid AI Watermark Controversy
Anthropic's AI model Claude has sparked controversy over its new watermarking features. The company confirmed that it will embed invisible watermarks into generated files and text to adhere to the EU AI Act's Article 50(2) Code of Practice on Transparency of AI-Generated Content.
Models launched after August 2 will automatically include these watermarks, while Anthropic is working to add similar measures to older models. The company also promises to support third parties in detecting these watermarks.
The move aims to improve transparency by making AI-generated content identifiable even after it has been copied or edited. However, users have criticized the feature, arguing that it could unfairly affect those who use Anthropic's models for minor editing tasks and blurs the line between AI-written work and AI-assisted work.
