Nvidia Prices AI Servers Higher Amid Surging Memory Costs
Nvidia has notified some of its largest customers that prices for servers equipped with its artificial intelligence chips will increase by more than 15% in many cases, driven by surging memory chip costs. The price hikes will take effect on systems shipped early next year and will apply to configurations including the company's flagship Vera Rubin and Grace Blackwell platforms.
The move comes as Nvidia prepares to report its fiscal first-quarter results on Aug. 26, with Wall Street expecting revenue to roughly double from a year earlier amid an unprecedented boom in AI infrastructure spending. The company holds more than 70% of the global market for data center AI semiconductors and commands a market capitalization exceeding $5 trillion.
Nvidia's data center business has grown at a triple-digit pace for multiple consecutive quarters, and the company has consistently raised guidance as hyperscalers expand AI capacity. The reported price increases signal that Nvidia is confident in its pricing power even as competitors attempt to gain share.
