Nvidia Seeks Insurer Backing for AI Chip-Backed Loans

Nvidia has been discussing loan arrangements with insurers that would involve using its AI chips as collateral. The talks are in their early stages, and it's unclear if any deals will be made.

One proposal would insure loans to smaller cloud providers, known as neoclouds, that pledge Nvidia chips as security for the debt. If a borrower defaults and the resold chips fetch less than the loan amount, the cover would protect the lender.

Nvidia is working with reinsurance broker Howden Re on one possible structure for this type of insurance.
