NVIDIA Sets Record with Massive Share Buyback Plan
NVIDIA's Board of Directors has authorized an additional $150 billion under the company's existing share repurchase program, raising the total remaining authorization to a record-breaking $235 billion. This increase is the largest in history and will be executed through fiscal year 2028.
According to NVIDIA's Founder and CEO Jensen Huang, 'NVIDIA's growth is being driven by a once-in-a-generation platform shift to AI and accelerated computing.' He noted that the company's cash generation gives it the capacity to invest in advancing technologies and return capital to shareholders.
NVIDIA also launched its Open Agent Safety Platform, which includes OpenShell open-source software and the Sentry reference system design. The platform aims to provide full-stack governance and control across AI agents' software and hardware. Industry partners such as Anthropic, Cisco, and Microsoft are joining the initiative.
Micron's strong earnings report lifted semiconductor stocks broadly, including NVIDIA, AMD, and Intel. Micron's adjusted EPS of $33.42 beat expectations, and revenue rose sharply year-over-year.
