Nvidia Soars Past $5 Trillion in Market Value
Nvidia has hit a record high in stock price, reaching $237.88 on Friday and lifting its market value to a staggering $5.7 trillion.
This milestone marks the first time Nvidia's stock has reached a new record since May, and it's now the largest company by market value on Earth.
Nvidia's market value has grown exponentially in recent years, surpassing Apple at $3 trillion in June 2024 and becoming the first company to hit $5 trillion in October 2025.
The chipmaker's stock is up over 40% from its March 30 low of $165.17, and it's not just a Silicon Valley story, Nvidia is part of the S&P 500, so many retirement accounts own a slice of it through index funds.
Nvidia makes GPUs, or graphics processing units, which are ideal for training and running AI. Tech giants buy them by the hundreds of thousands, with Amazon's cloud arm planning to deploy about 1 million through 2027.
