NVIDIA Stock Climbs 2.1% on Strong AI Demand and Bullish Outlook
Shares of NVIDIA Corporation (NASDAQ:NVDA) surged 2.1% on Monday, reaching a high of $240.10 before closing at $238.90. The trading volume for the day was approximately 124.09 million shares, a 19% decline from the average daily volume of 153.68 million shares. The stock had previously closed at $233.95.
Several positive developments contributed to the stock's rise. AM Intelligence reported firm orders for 20,000 NVIDIA Rubin GPUs for AI factory deployments in India and Malaysia, indicating strong demand for the company's next-generation systems. Analysts and options traders remain bullish, with some predicting NVIDIA could reach a $6 trillion market capitalization later this month. Morgan Stanley has also reinstated NVIDIA as its top pick, citing strong data-center demand and capacity expansion.
NVIDIA's expanded $235 billion share-repurchase authorization was viewed as a sign of management confidence. The company's AI software ecosystem, agent-security initiatives, and robotics exposure were highlighted as long-term competitive advantages, although these areas are not immediate revenue catalysts. Investors are also looking ahead to Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing’s October 15 results for additional insights on AI-chip demand and production capacity.
On the negative side, a lawsuit alleges that NVIDIA's $20 billion Groq licensing transaction disadvantaged Groq shareholders and bypassed a required vote, creating legal and reputational risks. Analysts warn that the stock's rally and record valuation depend on sustained AI orders and that higher bond yields pose a market-wide risk for expensive technology shares.
