Nvidia is addressing one of AI's biggest physical bottlenecks - electricity. The company launched the AI Energy Management Alliance with Google and Emerald AI on Wednesday, aiming to make data centers more flexible grid assets.

The alliance wants data centers to be able to shift computing workloads, tap stored energy, or cut electricity demand when the grid comes under pressure. Its framework measures how quickly facilities can respond, how long that flexibility lasts, and how predictable it is.

Data centers are a crucial part of Nvidia's business, generating $89 billion in revenue last year - roughly 92.5% of its latest quarterly sales. Power availability is becoming an increasing constraint on AI infrastructure deployment, which could impact Nvidia's systems installation.
