Nvidia Teaming Up with Apple on AI Server Technology
Nvidia may be teaming up with Apple to provide networking technology for its upcoming AI server. The move comes as Apple re-enters the enterprise server market, which is expected to grow due to increasing demand for running AI models.
According to reports, Apple's AI server will come in two variations: a smaller unit with two M8 Ultra chips and a larger unit with four M8 Ultra chips. The technology could be provided by Nvidia, but it's also possible that Apple may choose to go without it or even cancel the project altogether.
This isn't the first time Apple has worked with competitors to build its products. Samsung, for example, builds many components of the iPhone despite being a rival in the smartphone sector.
If Apple does enter the AI server market, it could have a significant impact on the stock market. The company's launch of its own silicon, starting with the M1 chip, was a major industry disruptor, and a similar pattern could emerge with its AI servers.
