Nvidia Unveils Nemotron 3.5 Lightning Model to Drive Agentic AI

Nvidia is expanding its portfolio of open AI models and architectural offerings to help drive AI operations and adoption. The company has introduced Nemotron 3.5 Lightning, a new open model designed for always-on agents handling specialized tasks. This model leverages Nvidia's hybrid Mamba transformer architecture and multi-token prediction technology.

According to Kari Briski, vice president of generative AI at Nvidia, efficient agents need a system of models, not just one model. The Nemotron 3.5 Lightning model is part of Nvidia's growing list of open models, which include various Nemotron models designed for different steps in the workflow.

Nvidia has also released NeMo Switchyard routing library for AI models to allow organizations to choose the right model for the right task in the agentic workflow. Briski noted that the best model changes as the workflow evolves and an agent has many states when completing tasks.
