Nvidia Unveils Record-Breaking $150 Billion Share Buyback Plan
Nvidia's shares rose 1.9% on Monday as the company announced a record-breaking $150 billion increase to its share repurchase program, bringing the total available buyback pipeline to $235 billion.
This massive authorization marks a significant acceleration in Nvidia's capital return strategy. In 2020 and 2021, the company's stock repurchases were nearly nonexistent, but with the AI boom transforming its balance sheet, buybacks surged from around $10 billion in fiscal 2023 to nearly $34 billion in fiscal 2025.
Nvidia's founder and CEO Jensen Huang attributed the company's growth to 'a once-in-a-generation platform shift to AI and accelerated computing.' He emphasized Nvidia's confidence in its long-term opportunity, saying, 'Our cash generation gives us the capacity to invest in the technologies that advance this transformation and return capital to shareholders.'
