Nvidia's $35 Billion Cloud Deal Secures AI Infrastructure

Nvidia Corp., a leading artificial intelligence chipmaker, is taking on a more significant role in Anthropic's infrastructure expansion than just supplying Graphics Processing Units (GPUs). The company has signed a cloud-computing deal worth $35 billion with Nvidia-backed provider Lambda. This agreement not only includes the supply of chips but also sees Nvidia holding the lease on the Texas data center supporting the project.

The facility is being developed by Hut 8 in Nueces County, Texas, and this structure is a bigger story for investors. Nvidia's financial strength is allowing it to secure infrastructure for customers that ultimately consume its chips, potentially accelerating AI capacity growth. However, this also means Nvidia is taking on a larger role in financing the ecosystem around its own products.

The arrangement highlights how tightly linked AI chip demand, data-center construction, and cloud financing have become. Anthropic is one of the largest developers of frontier AI models, making the $35 billion commitment another sign that spending on AI infrastructure remains enormous.
