Nvidia's AI Dominance Outpaces SpaceX's Growth
Nvidia and SpaceX are two of the fastest-growing companies in the AI space. While Nvidia is often regarded as the leader in AI computing, SpaceX's rapid growth in its AI division has some investors wondering if it could be a better buy.
SpaceX spent $15.8 billion on capital expenditures for its AI division in Q2, increasing revenue to $2.56 billion at an impressive 213% pace. Its AI division is not the largest, but it's not far behind Connectivity, which generated $4.29 billion in revenue during Q2.
Nvidia makes computing units known as graphics processing units (GPUs) that excel in a wide variety of tasks. The company has delivered impressive revenue growth in recent quarters, with its Q2 revenue increasing 106% year over year. In contrast, SpaceX's Q2 revenue totaled $7.8 billion.
Nvidia has a significant profit margin, at 62%, while SpaceX was unprofitable in Q2 but projects to achieve a 45% profit margin once the business is fully mature. With Nvidia's much larger market cap of $5.4 trillion compared to SpaceX's $2 trillion, it seems that SpaceX is overvalued and may struggle to provide strong returns.
