Nvidia's Server CPU Push Threatens Intel and AMD Dominance
Nvidia's entry into the server central processing unit (CPU) market is putting pressure on Intel and AMD, which have traditionally dominated this space. The shift towards Arm-based chips due to their low power consumption and higher efficiency has created a new opportunity for Nvidia.
The company's Vera server CPU, designed on Arm's architecture, is gaining traction in the market. CFO Colette Kress noted that today, they are in full production of their next-generation Vera CPU, which expands their total addressable market (TAM) further.
Nvidia expects to sell $20 billion worth of Vera CPUs this year and double its revenue next year. This growth suggests that Arm-based processors are on track to capture a larger share of the server CPU market, which could negatively impact Intel and AMD's growth.
