Ohio City's Market Square Park Gets Fresh Look for Oktoberfest

The Ohio City neighborhood in Cleveland is getting a facelift ahead of its second annual Oktoberfest celebration. Market Square Park, a hub for public activities and transit, has undergone a major makeover thanks to a $5,200 Community Impact Grant from The Home Depot Foundation.

Volunteers from The Home Depot's Steelyard Commons location and Ohio City Incorporated spent the day planting flowers, restoring flower beds, picking up litter, repairing park furniture, and adding new landscaping near the stage. The effort also includes plans to create a future Community Tool Library and support other neighborhood improvement projects.

Mia Basit-Hightower, a volunteer and community outreach coordinator at Ohio City Incorporated, emphasized the importance of revitalizing the park space. 'We're between the government and the people who live here,' she said, 'so our mission really is to represent the residents and make the neighborhood as beautiful as it can be.'

Market Square Park will host Oktoberfest from noon to 8 p.m., featuring beer, food, a kids zone, games, and live music. The event welcomes visitors of all ages.
