SPEEA Set to Vote on Revised Boeing Contract Offer
Boeing's largest white-collar union, SPEEA, is set to vote on Thursday on whether to accept a revised contract offer from the aerospace giant. The offer includes a 10% guaranteed raise and lifts annual guaranteed raises to 4%, plus 2% performance increases possible. This represents a significant improvement over the original offer, which tied guaranteed raises to inflation up to 3%.
The union's members have been pushing for bigger raises, citing that their pay has not kept up with the market and inflation. If they reject the revised offer, it would clear the way for a walkout as soon as October 7, halting Boeing's certification campaigns for the 737 MAX 10 and 777-9.
Several union members who voted no on the first offer have switched to supporting the latest one. However, some remain opposed, citing concerns that the raises may not be enough to keep pace with inflation and rising fuel prices.
