Old GPU, New Tricks: Gamer Pushes RTX 4070 Ti Beyond Official Limits

Samarveer, a gaming enthusiast and literature graduate, recently put his RTX 4070 Ti GPU to the test with the new Unreal Engine 5 title The Blood of Dawnwalker. The game's demanding graphics pushed the GPU to its limits, but Samarveer experimented with Nvidia's restricted frame generation features.

At first, he used DLSS 4.5 at its Quality Preset to achieve around 60 FPS at 4K, but even this couldn't provide a smooth gaming experience in combat scenes. He then tried regular DLSS Frame Generation at 2x, which gave him an average of 90 FPS with consistent 1% lows above 60 FPS.

However, Samarveer was not satisfied and continued to experiment. He used OptiScaler to enable Multi Frame Generation on his RTX 4070 Ti, a feature that Nvidia doesn't officially support on this GPU. With the right settings, he managed to push the frame generation multiplier up to 4x, achieving an average of 160 FPS at 4K.

The results were impressive, but not without some trade-offs. The latency increased to over 30 ms, and Samarveer noted that higher multipliers made the headline FPS number less representative. He found a sweet spot with 3x Frame Generation, which provided an average of 140 FPS while keeping latency relatively low.
