OneDrive has surprised users and writers by transforming into a more formidable photo app competitor to Google Photos. According to Parth, an analyst who reviewed OneDrive's new features, the app now feels like a 'proper photo app'. The redesign includes a new Gallery that allows users to browse photos in chronological order, making it easier to find old memories.

The People section is another standout feature, grouping similar faces together and allowing users to jump straight to photos of particular individuals. Moments brings older photos back into view, reminding users of their digital archives. Search functionality has also improved, enabling users to search based on what they remember about a photo.

Microsoft's focus on photo editing is another reason Parth is excited about OneDrive's new direction. The app now allows for quick changes without exporting images to other apps. However, Parth notes that Microsoft could further enhance the experience by integrating more AI editing features from its Copilot and Designer ecosystem.
