OneDrive Photos App Still Coming: Microsoft Adds Manage and Remove Options
Microsoft's OneDrive Photos app has been at the center of controversy after it was accidentally installed on millions of PCs. According to Microsoft EVP of Apps and Agents Jeff Teper, the app was shipped earlier than intended.
The company plans to release the app in the future with options for users to manage or uninstall it. Two entries have been added to the Microsoft 365 Roadmap regarding OneDrive Photos: one providing greater control for admins and another allowing users to remove the app independently.
The admin feature, which will roll out this month, enables organizations to manage whether users sign in with personal Microsoft accounts. This is expected to help IT teams align the OneDrive Photos experience with their access, data governance, and device-management requirements.
The user removal feature, scheduled for next month, allows people to uninstall the OneDrive Photos experience without affecting file sync or deleting photos and files.
