OnlyOffice Brings Its Capable Office Suite to Your Browser
I recently discovered that OnlyOffice, a suite of office tools I'm already familiar with in its desktop form, has a browser-based version that's just as capable. The web apps are remarkably similar to their desktop counterparts and offer all the essential features you'd expect from Microsoft Office or Google Docs.
OnlyOffice includes word processing, spreadsheet, and presentation tools, which can be used for general tasks like writing papers and creating reports. I was particularly impressed with the document editor's capabilities, which allow users to add images, tables, shapes, and charts, as well as customize headings and footers.
One of the standout features of OnlyOffice is its online collaboration tool, which allows multiple users to work together in real-time. This is made possible through a concept called 'rooms', where users can create public or private spaces for collaboration. Even with the free account, you can create up to 12 rooms and invite other users to join.
While there are some limitations on the free plan, including a 2GB cloud storage limit, I found OnlyOffice to be an excellent alternative to Microsoft Office and Google Docs.
