OnQ's Converge Platform Revolutionizes Retail with Real-Time Inventory Displays

Janet's shopping experience at Costco was like that of many others - she spotted the perfect MacBook Pro, but upon closer inspection, it turned out to be the last one in stock. This scenario is all too common for retailers who struggle to accurately reflect inventory levels on display.

A California-based company called OnQ Solutions has found a solution to this problem by integrating its Converge platform with IBM i applications. This integration enables digital displays to automatically update and reflect real-time inventory, preventing disappointed customers like Janet.

Costco was the first customer for OnQ's innovative technology, working with them to integrate their digital product displays with their back-office IBM i systems at 610 stores across the US. The company notes that other major retailers such as Walmart, Target, and Walgreens also rely on the IBM i platform.

The Converge system offers various capabilities beyond displaying real-time inventory counts, including generating QR codes for shoppers to access more information and providing management features for large-scale rollouts.
