Procter & Gamble (P&G) is expanding its health and wellness portfolio by acquiring Thorne, a supplements maker, for USD 3.8 billion in cash. The deal highlights P&G's growing focus on health and wellness, driven by consumers' increasing interest in healthier lifestyles and preventive care.

Thorne was founded in 1984 and supplies consumers, athletes, and healthcare professionals with nutritional supplements. Colin Watts, CEO of Thorne, stated that the company has earned trust by putting science, quality, and people first.

P&G's acquisition of Thorne is expected to strengthen its position in premium wellness, complementing existing brands like New Chapter, Metamucil, and Align Probiotic. Paul Gama, CEO of P&G Health Care, sees this move as an important step for the company's Personal Health Care business.
