RHP Brent Honeywell Jr., a 31-year-old right-handed pitcher, has signed a minor league deal with the San Diego Padres. This is not his first stint with the team, as he previously appeared in 36 games for the Padres in 2023 with a 4.05 ERA over 46.2 innings.

Honeywell was acquired by the Los Angeles Dodgers in July 2024 and went on to appear in 18 regular season games with a 2.62 ERA across 34.1 innings. He also played in two games of the NLCS against the New York Mets and one game in the World Series.

The Dodgers' World Series victory was largely attributed to Honeywell's role as an 'innings-eater' in the team's 'punt games.' Multiple Dodgers credited him for helping them win the championship by saving high-leverage arms for later games.

Honeywell has had a tough road to get back to the MLB level. He went unsigned after the 2024 season and latched on with the San Francisco Giants in February of this year, but was released before the start of the regular season. This marks his second stint with the Padres.
