Pakistan Eyes US Financing for Boeing Aircraft
Pakistan's Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb discussed potential financing options for Boeing aircraft with the Export-Import Bank of the United States, according to a report from Channel NewsAsia.
The financing would be for the privatized Pakistan International Airlines (PIA), as well as the modernization of oil refineries and the Reko Diq project.
A ministerial adviser, Khurram Shahzad, reported that the government is helping PIA gain access to financing and suppliers, but stressed that the state is not buying aircraft and has not announced a sovereign guarantee or loan for taxpayers.
