PayPal's Branded Checkout Solution Must Revive

PayPal's shares have plummeted to an 83% discount from their record high of $305.13, set in July 2021.

The company has seen its payment volume, revenue, and free cash flow rise over the past five years, but its branded checkout solution has been a weak spot, with muted growth.

Despite this, PayPal's valuation is pressured by intense competition from other payment companies such as Visa, Mastercard, and American Express.

The company's total payment volume rose 56% from Q2 2021 to Q2 2026, driving revenue up 40% and free cash flow by 64%, but the branded checkout solution only saw a 2% increase in TPV during that time.
