Pike County Fair Returns with Thrills and Nostalgia

The annual Pike County Fair is making a triumphant return, bringing back cherished memories and excitement for all ages. Held at the Pike County Fairgrounds during the first week of October each year, the fair promises thrilling rides, delicious treats, and nostalgic entertainment. The 2026 Pike County Fair is anticipated to be as exhilarating as those from years past, weather permitting.

For many, the fair was a highlight of childhood, with the setup of the fairgrounds right across from where they lived. Kids could watch every nail and tent go up, from the Merry-go-Round to the Caterpillar ride. Games like picking up items with magnets or shooting tin ducks offered small prizes, while treats like cotton candy and candied apples were favorites. The Caterpillar and Ferris Wheel were particularly thrilling, though the Ferris Wheel was considered the most dangerous due to its height and the risk of falling.

The Pike County Fair will take place at the Shriner’s Fairgrounds from October 6 to 10. The fair gates will be open from 6 to 10 p.m. on Tuesday through Friday and from 5 to 10 p.m. on Saturday. Admission is free for children 5 and under, $15 for children aged 6 to 11, and $10 for children 12 and up and adults. Armbands, priced at $20, offer unlimited ride access, with special discounts on Tuesday and Thursday nights for $15.

The fair will feature a variety of rides, including a Ferris wheel, merry-go-round, Rocket Bullet, and Lift Off, brought by the James Gang from Andalusia. Concessions will include funnel cakes, cotton candy, candy apples, popcorn, and more. The Shriners will also have a booth selling hamburgers, hot dogs, and parched peanuts. Entertainment will include performances by Pastor Valentine, Riley Austin, Jenna Renae Adair, the Brown Brothers, and Shane Owens throughout the week.
