Piper Sandler Cuts Cisco Price Target Amid Growth Concerns
Cisco Systems (CSCO) is experiencing volatility in its stock price due to analyst Piper Sandler's revised assessment of the company's growth prospects. The firm cut its price target on Cisco from $132 to $125 while maintaining a Neutral rating, signaling a more cautious stance without a full downgrade.
Piper Sandler warned that investors may be underestimating the risk of Cisco's growth slowing down, even as demand for its hardware remains strong. However, the company's profitable and cash-generative business model gives it room to keep investing in new technology and returning money to shareholders.
Despite this, rising debt levels make Cisco's balance sheet less flexible than in the past, which could limit its ability to do big deals or ramp up spending if the economy or tech budgets weaken. Additionally, a heavier hardware mix and higher memory costs threaten profit margins, requiring Cisco to execute carefully to keep earnings growing in a more volatile market.
