Google has rolled out an update to its Pixel Buds companion app, which includes Gemini audio controls and settings. The update is available now via the Play Store for devices running version 1.0.981607934 of the app.

The new features allow users to control their Pixel Buds using voice commands, such as 'Hey Google, turn up the bass' or 'Hey Google, turn on noise cancellation.' When these commands are used, a Gemini overlay appears on screen with a 'Connecting to Pixel Buds' message and verbal confirmation.

However, users without the app update will still be able to use voice commands, but they will only open the system Bluetooth settings page. The other features previewed by Google, including Dynamic ANC and Pixel Watch sleep sync, require a firmware update for the Pixel Buds Pro 2.
