Pixel Owners Rejoice: Google Finally Fixes Annoying Unlock Issue

Dhruv Bhutani, an experienced Android writer, has been using Google Pixel smartphones for years. He's always found one major annoyance - the inability to unlock the phone from a fully dead screen.

Bhutani explained that while other Android phones have had this feature for years, Google Pixels require users to wake up the display or press the power button first. This adds unnecessary steps and slows down his daily routine.

The problem lies in the fact that the under-display fingerprint sensor is only enabled when the Always On Display is turned on. However, this drains battery life and isn't an ideal solution for everyone.

But with the latest Android 16 QPR2 update, Google has finally fixed this issue. A new toggle has been added to the Security and privacy settings that allows users to configure their phone to unlock from a fully dead screen.
