Prescott Valley Woman Left High and Dry by Abandoned Fence Installation

A Prescott Valley woman is dealing with an unfinished fence and a messy front yard after contractors hired through The Home Depot stopped showing up to finish the job. Sofya Nektalova paid over $12,000 for a new fence and had initially experienced delays in getting the project started.

Work finally began on the installation, but it was short-lived as the contractors vanished after just two days, leaving behind a pile of building materials, including concrete packs that spilled open and hardened onto Nektalova's landscaping. 'It's ridiculous,' she said. 'I'm without a backyard fence for four months already and I live like that. It's terrible. It's scary to be like that at night.'

The Home Depot responded by stating they had been in contact with Nektalova, but only after On Your Side reached out to them. They claimed the installation included permits requiring city approval and review timelines. A permit was eventually issued on Monday afternoon, although it had initially been resubmitted a couple of times due to missing information.
