Qatar Airways has become the first airline to deploy Elon Musk's Starlink internet service on a large scale, installing it on 150 of its widebody aircraft. The state-backed airline expects to complete the installation across its Boeing 787 fleet by the end of 2026.

In a statement, Qatar Airways said more than half of its 60 Boeing 787 jets are now equipped with the satellite internet service.

The Starlink rollout was completed in nine months for the Boeing 777 fleet and eight months for the Airbus A350. For the Boeing 787-8 sub-fleet, it took seven months to complete.

Since launching Starlink connectivity onboard in October 2024, more than 23 million passengers have used the service across over 86,000 flights. Qatar Airways operates up to 323 Starlink-enabled flights daily.
