Qatar Airways Posts Record Profit, Places Record-Breaking Order for 210 Boeings
Qatar Airways finished its 2025/26 financial year with a net profit of $1.94 billion, the highest annual profit in the airline's history. The carrier moved 41.8 million passengers and carried 1.43 million tons of cargo through its single hub at Hamad International Airport.
The numbers are remarkable, especially considering that the 2025/26 financial year was one of the most disrupted periods in modern Gulf aviation due to the Iranian airspace closure and other regional disruptions.
Group CEO Hamad Al-Khater credits operational discipline and a hub geography that benefits from chaos as key factors behind the airline's success. Despite temporary suspension of scheduled operations in March 2026, Qatar Airways has restored flights to over 120 destinations by mid-May and targets over 160 destinations by summer 2026.
The airline is now placing its bet on Boeing with a record-breaking order for 130 Boeing 787 Dreamliners and 30 Boeing 777-9s, plus options on 50 more. The deal is worth approximately $96 billion and reflects the airline's existing fleet size and growth strategy. The move also highlights Qatar Airways' preference for Boeing over Airbus following past disputes.
