Qatar Airways Reroutes Daily Auckland Service Through Melbourne
Qatar Airways is restructuring its long-haul flight network in Oceania by re-routing its daily Auckland service through Melbourne instead of Adelaide, effective December 9, 2026.
This change will offer standalone bookings between Melbourne and Auckland under Fifth Freedom traffic rights, allowing Qatar Airways to compete directly on the Trans-Tasman corridor alongside Qantas, Virgin Australia, and Air New Zealand.
The daily service will operate using a wide-body Boeing 777-300ER with 354 seats, featuring Qsuite Business Class and Starlink Wi-Fi. The aircraft will depart Doha at 1:50 AM, arrive in Melbourne at 10:20 PM local time, and then continue to Auckland the following morning.
