QC Ware Unveils Hybrid Quantum-Classical Chemistry Workflow on IBM Quantum
QC Ware has successfully demonstrated a hybrid quantum-classical workflow using its Promethium platform and IBM Quantum hardware. The technology demonstration calculated the electrostatic interaction energy for nitric oxide reductase, a complex metalloenzyme system relevant to drug discovery, catalysis, and materials science.
The workflow paired GPU-accelerated classical molecular modeling with quantum measurements executed on IBM's 156-qubit Heron superconducting quantum processor. The result was a significant speedup of up to 20 times compared to legacy software, enabling molecular insights to be generated in hours rather than weeks.
Promethium utilizes a GPU-native architecture capable of running demanding electronic structure calculations, and the demonstration highlights how it can serve as an integration layer for quantum hardware. QC Ware plans to continue extending Promethium's classical GPU capabilities while developing hybrid quantum-classical algorithms that transition to utility-scale quantum processors as hardware gate fidelities advance.
