Rahman Urges Chevron to Bolster Gas Field Investments
Prime Minister Tareq Rahman has urged Chevron to increase its investment in exploring new gas fields, as well as existing ones, to strengthen Bangladesh's energy security and meet its growing demand. The meeting took place on Sunday, September 13th, at the Prime Minister's Office in Dhaka.
The discussions centered around Chevron's potential investments in expanding operations in old and existing gas fields, in addition to exploring new ones. Attendees included Finance and Planning Advisor Rashed Al Mahmud Titumir, State Minister for Power, Energy and Mineral Resources Anindya Islam Amit, and Chevron Bangladesh President and Managing Director Shu Xiong.
The meeting is seen as an effort by the government to encourage foreign investment in the energy sector. With growing demand and a need for increased energy security, Bangladesh seeks to explore new avenues of investment, including those offered by US-based Chevron.
