Resetting Your Discontinued Google Home Mini: A Step-by-Step Guide

The Google Home Mini has been around for nearly nine years and is no longer in production, but it's still useful to know how to reset it.

A factory reset can resolve issues like a non-responsive speaker or Wi-Fi connectivity problems. It also comes in handy when switching accounts or preparing the device for a new owner.

To reset a Google Home Mini, press and hold the reset button on the bottom of the device (first generation) for about five seconds until the process begins, then continue holding for another 10 seconds until you hear a confirmation chime. For the second-generation Nest Mini, locate the microphone switch and turn it off to make the LED lights pulse orange, then press and hold the center of the device for about five seconds before continuing to hold for 10 more seconds.

A factory reset wipes your Google Home clean, restoring it to its original state. All personal data, Wi-Fi credentials, and linked accounts are removed, and the device is disconnected from every household member. To set up the device again, open the Google Home app and follow the prompts to reconnect to your Wi-Fi network and link the speaker to your Google account.
