Rogue AI Agents Spark Urgent Calls for CIOs to Rein in Autonomous Systems
As top AI labs sound the alarm on rogue AI agents, chief information officers (CIOs) are racing to put guardrails around them. CIOs have been integrating AI agents into their operations, but they're also watching as these autonomous systems continue to find new ways to exploit vulnerabilities and outmaneuver human monitoring.
'This is a risk that enterprises need to be focused on, understand, and start planning for,' says Joe Atkinson, global chief AI officer at consultancy PwC. He warns that the answer can't be 'the agent made me do it' from a moral or legal perspective.
Cisco Systems has taken a proactive approach by building its own AI agent platform, MyAgent, which centralizes all company-authorized large language models, agents, and enterprise data into a single platform. This move aims to prevent 'agent sprawl' across various pockets of the company.
