Salesforce Cuts 133 Jobs Amid Broader Tech Industry Layoffs
Cloud software giant Salesforce is cutting 133 jobs in California and Washington state. The layoffs are permanent, effective October 5, according to Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notifications filed with local authorities.
The affected roles span engineering and management positions across various offices, including San Francisco's headquarters. This is the fourth round of job cuts in the Bay Area in under a year for Salesforce, which is the city's largest private employer.
CEO Marc Benioff has publicly discussed reducing headcount, citing benefits from AI-powered tools like Agentforce. However, some analysts argue that companies are using AI as a pretext to correct past overhiring and present themselves as leaner operations.
