Salesforce Invests Big in Anthropic After Being Shut Out of OpenAI

Salesforce CEO Marc Benioff revealed that his company was shut out of investing in OpenAI due to Microsoft's close relationship with the ChatGPT maker.

This led Salesforce to invest $50 million in Anthropic in 2023 at a pre-money valuation of $4.1 billion, and since then, they've invested over $300 million across multiple rounds.

Beníoff believes that Salesforce could potentially make 'tens of billions' of dollars from Anthropic when the AI startup goes public.
