Salesforce Login Failure Hits Dreamforce Conference

Salesforce was hit by a major global login failure during its Dreamforce conference in San Francisco, which started on September 15 and runs through September 17. The company began deploying a fleetwide fix at 6:56 a.m. Eastern on Wednesday after validating it on a test instance.

The disruption affected multiple instances across all regions, with customers reporting severe delays, intermittent errors, and an inability to reach some services. Salesforce Help was also impacted, leaving some customers unable to create support cases while the underlying service problem was under investigation.

Salesforce's third-party infrastructure provider reported no infrastructure fault, but the company identified an external dependency affecting a legacy login server as a possible cause of the issue. The financial impact is unlikely to be significant due to Salesforce's large customer base and revenue streams, but the incident raises questions about the company's ability to maintain availability and support during critical periods.
