Salesforce Pursues $2B Deal for Listen Labs AI Startup
Salesforce is reportedly in talks to acquire Listen Labs, a San Francisco-based AI startup that conducts automated qualitative customer interviews at enterprise scale. The deal, which could be worth $2 billion, would value Listen Labs at around four times its January Series B price.
Listen Labs' platform uses AI to conduct thousands of personalized conversational interviews with respondents drawn from a verified global panel. This is in contrast to traditional qualitative market research methods, which can cost tens of thousands of dollars and take six to eight weeks to complete.
The startup's architecture differs meaningfully from a survey tool, as it adapts follow-up probes to each respondent's answers, building on their stated concerns and pursuing unexpected threads. An Ekman-based emotional intelligence layer analyzes tone and sentiment across audio in more than 90 languages.
Salesforce is said to be looking for a proprietary data asset that its Agentforce agents cannot currently replicate from CRM records alone. This includes a 50 million-person research panel and over one million completed AI-moderated interviews, which could provide valuable insights into customer intent.
