Salesforce's AI Keynote Halted by Global Outage
Salesforce's global outage occurred on September 16, 2026, as Dreamforce got underway at Moscone Center in San Francisco. The outage began around 2:50 a.m. Central time and affected logins, APIs, and instance access across several countries, including the United States, the UK, Germany, France, India, Japan, Australia, Brazil, Canada, and others.
The cause of the outage was an internal login service that stalled incoming requests, leading to a bottleneck in server resources. Salesforce engineers validated a fix on a test instance by 6:56 a.m. Eastern time and began rolling it out fleet-wide, resolving the incident within two and a half hours.
The outage occurred at a critical moment for Salesforce, as it was showcasing its AI capabilities and Agentforce's growth to customers and investors. Despite reaffirming a $63 billion revenue target for fiscal 2030, shares fell roughly 3% in the sessions following the outage, landing near $242.92.
The incident highlights the operational risk associated with stacking autonomous agents on top of decades-old login infrastructure. Analysts raised price targets during Dreamforce, but the shares moved in the opposite direction, raising questions about investor confidence in Salesforce's reliability.
