Singareni Collieries Switches to Digital Planning with Google Earth
The Singareni Collieries Company, which operates one of India's largest coal-fired power generation facilities, has found a way to streamline its infrastructure and security planning using Google Earth.
Before, engineers had to physically walk kilometers of perimeter walls to inspect sites and design layouts. However, with the help of high-resolution satellite imagery and spatial analysis tools on Google Earth, Executive Engineer Ramakrishna Narayanagiri was able to map access roads and plan safety installations directly from his screen.
The team used terrain analysis tools like elevation profiling to assess site conditions remotely, eliminating the need for physical field surveys. This not only saved time but also reduced costs associated with travel and equipment procurement.
By leveraging Google Earth's spatial imagery and intuitive mapping tools, the Singareni Collieries Company has been able to accelerate project sign-offs and align with stakeholders more efficiently.
