Solomon's Shift: Goldman Sachs CEO Admits to Holding Bitcoin
Goldman Sachs CEO David Solomon publicly confirmed for the first time that he holds Bitcoin during the World Liberty Forum 2026 at Mar-a-Lago, Florida. He described his holdings as 'very little, but some,' and framed himself as more of an observer than a conviction investor in the asset.
Solomon's disclosure marks a shift from his previous stance on Bitcoin. In July 2024, he told CNBC that he viewed it as a speculative investment with no clear use case at the time, though he acknowledged a possible store-of-value argument. He stated as recently as January 2025 that Goldman Sachs could not own or engage with Bitcoin and crypto assets.
Solomon's appearance at the forum was not self-initiated. When asked why he attended an event hosted by the Trump family's crypto venture, World Liberty Financial (WLFI), he said: 'I'm here because Alex Witkoff called me. Alex and his family are great clients of the firm.'
